Vulcan Firethroat (later Blackfyre) is a character from my TLoS/Skylanders story, and the son of WeirdHyenas 's Fire Guardian and his mate, Infernacus and Nydia. Seems like he had it made, right?
Somewhere along the way, Vulcan met a young dragon. A young purple dragon. His parents gave him a home, gave him a name, as the Guardians raised him and taught him their ways; Vulcan, though older than his adopted brother, idolized the purple dragon. Blindly, he followed into whatever trouble the purple dragon would get himself into.
Having been troubled since his youth due to his much larger, very awkward size and the emotional disconnect he felt with those around him, he was very impressionable to the manipulations of the purple dragon. Eventually, voices that seemed to come from the shadows themselves, darkness incarnate began to whisper to him. Until he could no longer differentiate which voices were real.
The only time he found silence, solace and clarity was when he silenced whatever dragon stood before him, by whatever means necessary. And to make sure they stayed quiet....he began to eat them.
Vulcan was eventually convinced by his 'best friend' that the world was out to get them. Particularly the Air Dragons, and after being spurned by his Air Dragoness lover, Vulcan found it was the perfect reason to help his adopted brother take over Dragonkind. Having taken on the name of Malefor, the purple dragon slaughtered the Air Dragons, leaving their leader and Guardian to Vulcan to silence forever. And he did so, gladly. In the best way he knew how.
